Artist's Comments

We got an assignment where we had to rework someone else's art. This is more of a change than an improvement. Unfortunately, this isn't the picture I had origianally intended on doing, so I put off the assignment for awhile and chose this one as a good back up (it seemed recent and was of the character she liked at the time). I'm really sorry to have rushed this one so much.

this is the picture [link]

Anyways, the things that the class said that I should improve (since I removed to notes to self layer), were that I should put in more of the green that was in the original in the trees, warm up the yellow of the shirt (more like the original), more brown and moss for the tree, and hide her right hand more in shadow.

So, thank you for letting me work on your work, you have great things in your art making it quite fun to work on.

Oh yeah, I didn't have the time to do the whole thing, sorry about that.

I agree, your values seem to be a bit tentative, especially on the log. I'd say strengthen your darks and lights. Cool/warm shadows would help, but all in all the drawing has an instant read so maybe there's nothing that needs to be done.

Love the shirt. Your fabric is seriously miles above what I could ever be capable of.

Thanks, I dought I'll work on this one anymore, but I'll try and keep that in mind for the next one (I have an obsession with cool colors, but things work better with both).

Yeah, that log was kinda just thrown in there, and by that I mean worked on night and day until it reached perfection!!!!! doodoodoo........so anyways...

Please don't flame me for posting a rendition of someone else's work. I had permission from her and she is credited. Also this is the only way I have to send this to her. I've only submitted two things, try not to give me too hard a time.

heh I tend to favor cool colors too so that's both of us.
And yeah don't flame her, she asked me first. : (
I like what you did with the treeline, it was sort of rough in mine...it's funny seeing that pic without such defined lines...I guess overdefining lines is something I need to work on...
